Sectional doors are built from separate panels, so a damaged one can often be swapped out. It works best when the door is a current model, the profile is still made, and the damage is limited to one or two sections.
Check the rest of the door at the same time. A car impact hard enough to damage a panel usually bends a track or a hinge as well.
This is the honest catch. A new panel on a door that has been in Gold Coast sun for eight years will not match. Colorbond fades, and a fresh section next to weathered ones is visible.
For a door at the back of a property that may not matter at all. On a street frontage it often does, and that's the point where replacing the whole door starts to make sense. Worth deciding deliberately rather than being surprised afterwards.
Panels that have corroded through rather than been hit are a different judgement. Rust that has started at the bottom edge of one panel has usually started on the others too — replacing one buys a year, not a decade.
